A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

I've been getting up at reasonable times the last few days despite having to close every night at work.  I finally got myself up to go for a walk in the morning, mostly because I had to return an overdue library book.  I checked out books quite a while ago and have renewed them twice, because I still haven't found time to read them. The one I had to return was put on hold by someone, so I couldn't renew it.  I thought it was a great time to walk to the book drop.  That way, I could get in some exercise and cross something off my to do list.

The weather was absolutely perfect!  It was 70, sunny, not a cloud in the sky, and slightly breezy.  Most of the walk was shaded, so I didn't even have to worry about burning.

I walked just shy of 4 miles.  I would have kept going to get that even number, but I had to get ready for work.

I also decided to try having a smoothie for lunch.  Everybody seems to be juicing, but I don't have a juicer.  I do have frozen strawberries, frozen bananas and a blender.  And I forgot that I have some protein powder.  It wasn't even expired!  Bonus!

I was full after drinking that, but a couple of hours later I thought my stomach was going to eat itself I was so hungry!  I forgot to grab a snack.  I should have known it would only tide me over for a bit.  I didn't go crazy or anything by the time I ate.  I just had some stir fry I made the other day from all of my left over veggies.  It was delicious and filling.

How did you spend your day?

Mish-Mash Monday

Last night I was asleep by 11.  This morning I woke up before my alarm.  It was still dark and I wondered what time it was.  I didn't have a watch on and went to find my glasses.  Once I found them, put them on and found a clock, I saw that it was 2:45 a.m.  I thought that it was around 6 or so!

Good idea, Zooey. Good idea.

I knew I wouldn't be able to fall back asleep in bed between Kevin's loud breathing and my cat's bed-hogging, I decided to just go lay on the couch.  I turned the T.V. on I Love Lucy and fell asleep until I heard the Golden Girls on around 7.

Chillin'
I had off today, so I laid around most of the morning, drank some coffee, crocheted, and made a list of some things I needed at the grocery store.  I finally headed out at about noon.

A couple of hours later, I went for a walk with Melissa and her posse (aka her 3 children).  It was so nice out!  It was a bit windy by the lake, which is where she lives, but the way back was better since the wind was behind us.  We ended up walking almost 3 miles.

The bottom of my foot was still sore this morning, but I popped a couple of ibuprofen and iced it for about half an hour before I went walking. It wasn't sore during or after either.  Now though, it is a bit sore to walk on.  I wish I knew what the deal was, but I just have to hope that with ice and rest it will get better.  Too bad it won't get too much rest since I literally run around for 8 hours at work.  I will have to assess it after my run tomorrow.  I may have to take some time off from running.

Happy Monday!

National Coffee Day!

I usually forget that it's actually the weekend when I have to work straight through until Tuesday.  All day I kept forgetting what day it was.
This morning was a pretty big struggle to get up.  I had cereal for breakfast and some green tea.  Yes.  Tea.  It is national coffee day and the irony is that I ran out of coffee yesterday and forgot to buy more.  I was dragging until I felt it was an acceptable time to down a soda...10ish.
My food choices were not the best today.  I only went over by a little, but that's because I didn't eat much, just badly.  On my break at work I had some diet Pepsi, king size Twizzlers, and Doritos.
Not my proudest moment, but lunch wasn't much better.  I had a pretzel with butter and salt on it and some cheese.  When I got home I had a better lunch.  I had a cheese and tomato sandwich, a salad with balsamic vinegar and EVOO, and a pear and banana.
A little while later I really wanted an apple with peanut butter, so I told myself to go for a walk and then afterwards I could have one.  It was a beautiful afternoon, in the mid 60s with a light breeze.  I listened to Jillian Michael's podcast for the first time and really liked it.  I figured I would, but it wasn't what I was expecting, what ever that was.  I ended up doing just over 3 miles.  I am planning on doing a longer run tomorrow after work, just not sure how long yet.

I took a couple of pictures of the leaves changing.  I also tried to get a picture of how huge the moon was tonight, but this doesn't do it justice.

I got home in time to watch The Sitter.  It was an okay movie.  Funny enough to keep me watching.  I'll be heading to bed soon.  I have to be up bright and early on Sunday!

What are your weekend plans?
